Paga Hill Development Company (PHDC) is delighted to announce its sponsorship of the first collection of women’s writing to come out of Papua New Guinea. Titled, ‘My walk to equality’, the collection is designed to present relevant issues from a women’s perspective to help elevate the status of women, and women writers in PNG.
This important initiative not only raises awareness of women’s inequality in PNG, it also provides an opportunity for PNG writers to be recognised and have their work published in a book alongside other authors.
Gudmundur Fridriksson, CEO of Paga Hill Development Company, said he was honoured to support this publication.
“This is an excellent opportunity for PNG women to raise the conversation around equality and drive social change. Paga Hill Development Company are ongoing supporters of PNG literature, and we are proud to be able to support this initiative.”
Over the last couple months, editor Rashmii Amoah has collaborated with PNG women to compile a collection of stories. With only three weeks remaining to contribute before the 31 December cut off, entries have started to roll in. Further details and guidelines can be found here.
The 180-page book will launch in Port Moresby on International Women’s Day, Wednesday 8 March 2017.
Organisers are seeking further sponsorship to produce and distribute the book; interested parties can contact Keith Jackson.
